Report field instructions
I think I get the idea behind having instrutions for report field editable in each process (although I wonder how often different instructions are needed but I'll go with it). So why have a space to enter instructions in the Report Fields manager in the first place. Perhaps a description for internal use..... but since changing the instructions in the manager won't change it anywhere in the processes, it seems un-necessary and confusing (yes I have just changed the instructions here expecting it to change everywhere for the third time - I am slow, I don't change the instructions that often) Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Hi Amy,
With the 5.0.0 GLM release on March 7, when you share a question across a forms, the instructions will be shared as well. You can then edit them on a form-by-form basis if you need to. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Hi Amy,
We're currently working on re-architecting our report field functionality. One of the changes we will be making in conjunction with this is that any question will be able to be marked as a "Shared Question" within a process. However, since the instructions for this question may differ depending on which form it is visible on, it will need to be able to have different instructions on a per-form basis.
I believe this will be more useful and intuitive to you than the current way the report field template instructions work (or don't exactly!).
I'll update this Idea Lab item as we get closer to the release of the changes.
Thanks!

Hi Amy,
Thank you for posting to the Idea Lab.
I think I understand the situation but let me know if I'm off track.
Yes, the instructions are there so that you can change them from one process to another as appropriate. Keep in mind that once a process is created then any edits to the reports fields whether it's changing a label, instruction etc. will need to be made in that specific process. If you are changing the instructions in a particular process then those instructions will change across all stages of the process.
If you happen to change the instructions in the report field templates as opposed to a specific process those changes will not transfer into processes that have already been created but would show up in any new process that was added.
I would be happy to give you a call to discuss this in more detail.
Thank you,
Betty
