"Locked" state in the process report fields
In addition to the "Not Included," "Included," "Required," and "Internal" states, add a "Locked" state to report fields. This would allow them to appear on the selected forms but not be editable. For any content to show in these fields they would have to be included on a previous form in an editable state, and then that information would be used as a reference on future forms with the locked state. For example, I have a "Grant Conditions" field in the "Included" state on an approval form, and want it shown in the "Locked" state on a follow-up form, so that it can be referenced on the follow-up but not edited.

Hi Catherine,
This functionality is now available in GLM as of the 5.0 release on March 7. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Hi Catherine,
We are going to be looking at updating the report field functionality in the next 6 months.
Since this idea is really similar to the idea "Setting Permissions for Report Fields", I wanted to let folks on this thread know that I will be providing further updates on the "Setting Permissions ... " thread.
Thanks,

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for posting this suggestion. It's definitely something that has been discussed a bit internally and a similar idea has been posted here.
As I note in that thread ... I would ideally like to see us work on this as part of an overall effort to improve report field configuration. However, if it doesn't look like we'll get a chance to get to that, we may add this extra state and take the performance hit, but it's something that is going to require more internal discussion. I'd be interested to hear what people think about the current report field configuration performance (and how many report fields they are dealing with) versus the performance cost of adding another state to that configuration.
While it's not going to happen in the near term, this is an idea that will be implemented at some point - ideally as part of a reworking of report field functionality.
Thanks again for the post, and please let me know if you have additional feedback or questions.
