(Updated in 2.10.0) Missing password "characters"
I don't know if other Administrators have noticed that applicants' passwords are not indicated with characters, as before. The box next to password is now blank. I understand not having the passwords evident is for security purposes; however, there are contacts with multiple profiles. Being able to see which of their profiles has a password is very helpful when the occasion necessitates administrators' logging in as an applicant. If you need to log in as the applicant, and you choose an incorrect entry, you are completely logged out of GLM.

Hi Mary,
In the next release into production, scheduled for July 17th, we have added back the dots in the password fields to show that a password does exist. Also, when logging into the software as another user through the Users link, when you search for the user be sure to check the applicant box under roles and then you will be sure to pull up the correct email address.
We will be posting the complete list of information included in this release within the next few days.
Also, if you completely close down your browser session it should clear the login error. If that does not work please be sure to let us know by sending and email to mailto:support@foundant.com .
Thank you

Hi Daren,
Is there any way to at least mark the email address with an asterisk, or something, to show which is the applicant? I just tried to log in as the applicant, who had registered himself as both the user and the ED, with the same email address, picked the wrong one, got kicked out and now cannot log back into Foundant using IE. Even though I'm using the listing in my favorites, it's taking me back to the error page, rather than a new login page.
Thanks

Hi Kathryn,
Unfortunately, there is no way for you to see if a password has been modified. This is one of the trade-offs we made when improving the security. You have the ability to change a password for any users but have no visibility of the actual password characters.

Is there another way for administrators to know whether the User (that we likely have enterred through Manual Grant Entry) has established a new password? Our initial passwords were fairly easy for us to determine by the number of characters. I'm sorry if I've missed this discussion previously and thank you for your advice.

Daren,
Thanks - yes, this is a good alternative. We have applicants with multiple entries and email addresses. By using this method, I can see their most recent entry date and apply it to the application date.
When you use one method for so long, it's great to learn there's a better way.

Hi Nancy,
This is a tricky situation because you are correct that we decided to hide passwords due to security concerns since many users use the same password for most of their Web-based activities. One potential solution is for you to go through our Users section for those times when you need to login as an applicant. If you click Users in the left navigation, click the check box for Applicants and then click Search, you will see a listing of all Applicant accounts in the system. If you click on the email address for any user you will be automatically logged in as that user. Will this help with your issue?
