Hey, Uncheck This Out! Change the Default on the Choose Export Columns
Are you tired of unchecking ninety (yes 90!) export column boxes to narrow down your export to Excel?
Wouldn't it be cool if the Foundant default had all of those boxes UNCHECKED?
That way you would only have to zip through checking off a handful of columns to include in your export.
It is faster to point and click what you want than to get carpal tunnel syndrome unclicking your way through persnickety exports.
I understand that the web usability experts say that when your menu or variable fields are greater than 10, users are faster and more accurate when they select options rather than unselect them.
Of course, the next feature you demanding power users will be wanting after this is the ability to order those fields you just clicked so that your spreadsheet is ready to go.

Hi Karen, Linsey, and Prentice,
In our 3.3.0 release - which is currently in our DEMO environment - we moved the "All Columns" check box down a bit to separate it from all the other checkboxes. We also changed it to read "Select All", so it should be clearer. When the columns initially load, they are all checked and so is the "Select All" box. If you uncheck it, all the columns will be deselected.
Thanks for the suggestion and I hope this helps.

Hi Karen,
Your idea for making this functionality makes lots of sense and we'll discuss it at our next Product Team meeting. Adding a little extra space around that particular box and changing the text would be a couple options for making this important feature more visible to users.
One of our initiatives for 2013 is to update some of the existing terminology in the software so it's more intuitive and aligns better with the terminology that our customers actually use. Back to Prentice's initial post, we'd also love to add functionality allowing people to save Data Export profiles -- this is a big project and I can't promise a delivery date but we realize how valuable it would be to our clients that are heavy Data Export users.

I would maybe consider changing the title of the "All Columns" box to "Select/Unselect All" or something like that. It really is not obvious, and I came on here to see if there was a workaround. I didn't even notice that box - but I am sure glad it is there! :) Thanks!

Hello Prentice and Linsey,
Thank you for posting your ideas.
Maybe it isn't as obvious as it should be but if you un check the All Columns check box at the bottom of the first column it will deselect all columns.
Please keep the ideas coming.
Thank you!

Prentice, If you uncheck the All Columns box (at the bottom left, I think) all export data points will be unchecked. Hope that helps :)
