Allow default note type to be configured
Default note type is not configurable (and is set to public view only). It would be useful to configure default note type and sort ordering similar to ssOptions

There is a setting today which allows you to hide the default note type, then use can use permissions on the other notes types. Global Settings > Security Tab > System Visibility Permissions > Misc. Tab > Hide Public Note Type

Remove the Prefix field for inclusivity
Can we remove the Prefix field in the Collaborator section of the application?
While that field is optional, having it appear at all makes it seem like we want this information. Titles and honorifics tend to undermine inclusivity, as they are usually male-centric.
We do not need to know if someone is a Mr., Mrs. Mx., etc. so we would like to hide this field on the collaborator form.

Clearer Separation Between Users and Contacts in CRM
To simplify and future-proof our CRM, we propose a clearer distinction between users and contacts:
Distinct Types
Users: Authenticated accounts with login privileges.
Contacts: Business records tracked in the CRM system, without login privileges.
This separation ensures that external contacts are never mistaken for system users.
Permissions
Only admins can create or manage users.
Regular staff can add and edit external contacts, but not users.
This approach safeguards system integrity while allowing staff to work freely with contact data.
Notifications
By default, contacts do not receive system notifications, unless explicitly set up for GDPR purposes.
Context for Our Use

Thanks for the suggestion, most likely, this is something that can be done via configuration, we will be reaching out to you to discuss.

Adding dynamic visuals
We would like to incorporate dynamic visuals. Our system generates Portfolio Visuals. Ideally, these visuals should be filterable — rather than showing data for the entire organisation by default. Users should be able to view the visuals by specific centres/ teams. This would provide more granularity and support better decision-making across the organisation.

The October release includes a dynamic filtering option, does this meet your needs? https://wiki.smartsimple.com/wiki/Upgrades#New_Dynamic_Chart_Filtering_in_Dashboards

Auto-save
Currently, users have to click the Save Draft button to save their work. Some of our users are so used to AutoSave on Word, Google Sheets, etc. that they forget to hit save and then lose their work.
Also, we live in an area with poor connectivity and sometimes the internet goes down without warning so having the ability to automatically save would help reduce frustration.

Payment Date Error Pop-up
Can you add a pop-up error message when trying to make a payment with a payment date that is before a grant or voucher date? Typo's happen and if you accidently put in a wrong date on a grant or voucher and then pay it without catching, it is not an easy fix.

This is possible today via configuration on the form validation.

email alerts for admins when autoloader fails
We'd like to be able to receive an alert when an autoloader fails. Currently, system admins cannot receive these, yet SmartSimple does. We have many autoloaders that run hourly and when they hang, it creates a big problem to clean up so if we could be alerted soonest, that would help greatly. We've asked if this is possible and currently it is not. We'd like to see this added to an upcoming release.

There are notification settings on the process tab in the autoloader to specify the recipient(s) of failures, see screenshot.

New field type for people picker
Right now the system has 2 "people" fields (like owner) on a record. All other people associated with the record need to be added as associated contacts. But it take a lot of steps to add someone as an associated contact... you have to go to a separate area, look for them, choose what type of contact they are, and then click the "add contact" button. I want to have more options like the owner field, where the field is housed on the form itself and people enter the name of the specific contact in that field and hit enter…
1 voteYou can use the linked record list to add associated contacts directly within the form. A redesigned, simplified interface is also planned for the October 2025 upgrade.

Group-Based Permissions for Custom Fields
Description:
Introduce the ability to assign custom field permissions based on predefined groups, rather than manually configuring permissions for each individual role or status. This would streamline permission management and reduce redundancy in configuration.Example:
Instead of selecting 10 statuses in "Allow View Field" for each custom field, create a predefined group called "Youth Program EOI" to include these 10 statuses, and this group could be used to apply permissions for all statuses related to "Youth Program EOI" in one step.1 vote
