  1. LOI - generally called a Letter of Intent - we call it a Letter of Introduction. It's kind of an 'elevator speech' for applicants where we get a snapshot of some financial needs (we ask for up to 3). We use is as a guide and have a phone conversation with the applicant once the LOI is submitted. depending on our yearly goals, we may pass on this applicant for the year, but want to keep them for the next year.

    It would be great to have a 'stand-alone' LOI that can be branched to an application at another date…

  2. Please remove restrictions on "Add User" information fields!! Only allowing certain formats for phones/addresses/postal codes restricts inputting accurate information. (Can't input extensions for phone numbers, international phone numbers, international addresses.)

  4. Hello! It would be really helpful and much easier if the MFA was an email or a computer-based app/browser authenticator even. Asking evaluators (and in our case, applicants) to download an app has proved cumbersome. It requires the assumption that folks feel comfortable using their cell phones for work, and that just doesn't feel right in the philanthropy culture we are trying to create.

  5. We use GLM to code every donor advised grant using our extensive taxonomy. As we generate these grants in CSuite, it would be great to be able to Allow Copying for CSuite processes as this would cut down significant time the team is spending manually entering data.

We often get questions about what financials and other documentation will be expected of the applicant, and gathering these materials is often the most time-consuming part of the application process. We include this information on our website, but this makes our website less streamlined and requires applicants to leave GLM. Because of this, I think it would be helpful to add a Resources section alongside the Apply and Organization History buttons. Here, the applicant could preview and download requested attachments in advance of that stage in the application process. In speaking with Foundant, I understand this toolbar is hardcoded, but…

  8. It would be fantastic if we could edit the Award Details tab within the request summary to show information most relevent to us and to our grantees. I would love to be able to pull in the most high-level information from our approval page to show a better picture of the award.

    For example, Grant Period, Focus of Funds, etc. This is high-level info that would be great for us and our applicants to see without needing to go into a grant agreement. Just as the award details page currently shows high-level installment/payment info, It should show other high-level grant…

I’m probably not the first to express this idea, but it would create efficiencies both for applicant agency personnel as well as foundation personnel if a new staff person at a nonprofit agency already in our system (the agency already being in the system, not the new staffer) if they could create their own profile in the Foundant GLM system without having to create their agency over again and thus making a duplicate that the foundation would then need to merge. The foundation could then attach the new user to the appropriate agency. The only other option now is for…

  10. Applicants should be able to edit their own applications up until the deadline. SLM should add efficiency. Our 1-person scholarship staff does not have time to edit applicants for students or send them back to draft. O

  11. So I'm working on YR 2 for our UA. Making edits and trying to get a better handle on it all. I'm in now as an applicant. We have sections of questions: shared by all of the scholarships, shared by some of them, and then ones that are only for one scholarship. Question groups are collapsible, right? Going on the scenario that a kid is eligible for several, wouldn't it be good for those shared question sections that they've already completed to be hidden or collapsed? Now I'm old, but it seems clunky and confusing to even have them there…

  13. Administrators and applicants are able to view the "character count" for applicants' text area questions. It shows below in green.

    We would like the option for evaluators, in their side-by-side evaluation form, to see the character count underneath the question, as it is displayed for administrators and applicants.

    We don't necessarily want to encourage our evaluators to only consider character count, as we say the quality of answers matter more than the number of words/length of response, but it may help evaluators when they are in between two scores.

  15. Although it tells the applicant that it is a preview only when you switch cells, however, we still had an applicant not realize she was in preview mode for some reason. Would it be possible to somehow lock those answer blocks so that they couldn't be typed in? And/or a big red warning at the top of the form?

  16. I like the new table feature. It would be great to have an option to use radio buttons. For Yes/No questions, it would eliminate the need for applicants to click the dropdown arrow and then Yes or No. Half the clicks needed for each table that includes them.

  17. When creating a new account, you're required to type in a password and then confirm the password in the next field. You cannot paste it into this password confirmation field though. This can dissuade applicants from creating long, secure passwords that have a variety of special characters, letters, and numbers.

  18. This might be two ideas - but both are about the LoR submission page.

    1) It is often the case where LoR writers write many LoRs for students. The SLM experience for these writers is generally good. The writers like that all the names are on one list. But when they start on that list, they click off to the LoR form and (because they have so many to write) they forget whose they are writing in that very instance.   19. There should be a way to preview the question list in a different language. I know you can google translate the actual page as it's being filled out. But it would be even better if, when I create the .pdf of the question list, it could be created in whatever language the application was already being translated in. This would help applicants have a reference of what the application might ask them so that they can be prepared without a language barrier.

  20. There is a button that says "Copy Address from Organization" that allows registrants to autofill their org's address into the user's address section. But when you hide all the user address fields, that button still appears and can be a little confusing for applicants when they register.
