Archive Profiles
After 30 years of data, and years and years of it an inarguably sloppy mess, our database needs some sprucing up. We would like to 'file away' at least a decade's worth of single-gift donors that have never, ever, ever been heard from again. Would love a way to archive entire profiles from a custom report!
We don't to want to get rid of them (and obviously can't because of a financial transaction), but we also don't want them cluttering up search lists and mailing lists and reports etc on the regular.
11 votes5/3/2023: Profiles have a new a look with this enhancement. Foundant is excited to take so many of the User submitted ideas from idea lab and make them happen in the software. Our highest voted idea lab submission was the ability to identify the main profile data regardless of the designation.
The profile summary includes the information needed when working with constituents. The primary profile data will now be static at the top of the page regardless of the designation page that is being viewed. This summary includes an image, primary contact information, last donation date and pronouns. With this new layout there will be an icon next to the profiles name at the header. This will allow a User to easily identify an individual, household, or organization record. Images have also been added to the top header box for easy reference as well. It would be a nice boost to be able to add images of different shapes to our organization's profiles. A lot of our organizational fund holders like agency and project fund folks have logos that don't fit neatly into that perfect square or circle that is defined for that image space. For example, this agency is going to be launching a campaign to boost their fund here at our Foundation. I tried resizing the image but it won't work that way. Redefining that field to allow images of different shapes would probably be necessary. This would be especially helpful also…

Print envelope to link to mailing address, not primary
Can we please have the 'Print Envelope' button link to the 'Mailing Address' if it's selected on their profile instead of the primary?

Please fix the Copy button!!
With the location of the copy button without a "sure you want to copy" confirmation the way you do with deletions, profiles can get copied without users realizing it. There is a message that comes up but if someone is typing they completely miss it. PLEASE add a confirmation for copying.

How to bulk import information/changes to profiles without creating duplicates
It would be awesome if the "bulk import" feature on Profiles allowed for matching to an already existing profile. That way we could bulk import changes to profiles or make multiple profiles a nonprofit or set multiple profiles as a certain type, without duplicating already existing profiles.
GLM has this function for updating grant information, hopefully not an unreasonable ask. Thank you for all your hard work!

Ability to Edit Phone Types
I'd like the ability to Edit our current list of Phone Types. Currently category types are all in lower case and I'm not able to go in and simply capitalize our listings. I'd also like to determine which number should be the default choice - currently ours is 'main' which is fine for a big company but gets confusing for individuals. Is the main number at home or work? Is it a cell number or landline?
Considering that I can edit Email Types and Address Types I find this restriction odd.

Profile Updates: Move Similar Profiles under Details
We would not look for Similar Profiles under Engagement. We would prefer to see it under Details.
Now I have to either open the second profile in a new tab or click back and forth between Details and Similar Engagement tabs to compare.
I noticed that the Merge action in the left-hand column now only displays when you are viewing the Details Tab. Is your intention to place the list of Similar Profiles back on the Details Tab?

Profile Update: Indicate if Primary Address / Email is "Pay" for Grantee/Vendor
With the new profile updates, is there a way to show whether the primary address and primary email listed in the block at the top of the profile is the Pay Address / Email?
This would be especially helpful when processing grants, scholarships and vouchers.

Sort name for organizations that use (The)
I posted this idea years ago and the feedback I received was working great but the sort name doesn't seem to be working. We are looking at applications submitted and all the organizations that use "The" are under T and not under their corresponding name.

zip codes - export drops the first zero
When exporting to Excel, any zip code that starts with a zero (0) is automatically dropped. It would be great if this could be fixed. It would be very helpful.

Philanthropic Interest Type location
Please move the philanthropic interest type to the details tab on profiles. It was much easier to see before the new implementation.
This is on the details tab on the grantee profile, not sure why is it different for profiles.

Required Profile Fields - Different By Type
It's great to now be able to require certain fields when creating a new profile. However, the fields specified apply to all 3 types - Individuals, Households and Organizations. It would be better if there was a separation of required fields. For instance, Salutation and Mailing Label might be great for individuals and households, but not for organizations. Can we get different requirements for the 3 types?

Profile Template
Hi, Prospect Manager requested to design a prospect profile template, Bio, contacts, giving history, last payment, total giving, planned gift, and specific notes related to the prospect. It would be nice to have the ability to create it by choosing which section needs to be in the portfolio.

Global search include Legal Name
It would be helpful that when Legal First name or Legal name is populated that a global search includes those names. Example: Harold W. Smith goes by "William", so in the name field that's what we have entered on his profile. However, when a check from "William" comes, the check lists only his legal name. So when I do a search for "Smith, Harrold" (as listed on the check) nothing comes up. If I don't personally recognize the name I'll end up creating a duplicate record. It would be so helpful that if I typed in "Smith, Harrold" the search…

profile bulk update
When downloading addresses in the bulk edit function be able to specify which addresses to download, i.e. active, primary, etc. We are sending our database out for NCOA move through USPS and they charge by # of addresses processed. Because the option is to download ALL addresses I have to create a second file of the addresses I really want to send and match up Profile Address ID's to update when I get the file of changes back. Audit Log for deleted profile
We can run an audit log to see profiles created but cannot see profiles deleted (just name would be awesome). I can see when we delete addresses and phone numbers but not the whole profile. We are trying to clean up all the extra profiles our conversion created under households but have realized there is no way to track which profiles have been deleted (either by profile ID # or name). This would be beneficial in case something was done in error and as a supervisory validation.

Add gender and pronouns fields to organizations
We are moving away from titles such as Mr., Mrs., Ms. etc. as many times we guess these titles. However, we would still like to note the gender and pronouns for the main contact for an organization (if known). Could you please add the gender and pronouns fields to organizations?

Make salutation searchable
Please make the salutation field searchable. Most community foundation employees will know a donor/fundholder by their nickname, not their full name. I have run into many situations where it is impossible to find someone as their full name is in no way related to their salutation/nickname.

Profile Designations: add charity
Within the designations on the profile nonprofit is one that adds that profile to the nonprofit directory. Adding a designation of Charity would be great so we can mark all of our registered charities with that designation and they could have a directory as well.
