Would the Level 2 account association be sufficient to meet your needs?

I think you might be able to accomplish something close to this by using a lookup field with a report that pulls all of the Orgs as options, but I haven't tried that and will admit that it's an inelegant solution.
One of the reasons why this ask would be beneficial is that it is difficult to pull Assigned Organizations into List Views. You can put it in a display field, but then the List View loads slowly, and the field is not sortable or searchable. So I see the benefit of just having an Organization field like we do on the level 1. If it is available on the level 1, why not on the level 2?

The way that we have been working around this is to have a generic Caption, and then use sslogic in the Instructions to provide different text based on the different situations. But that's sometimes not possible or aesthetically pleasing, so I have had to make multiple fields for the same question due to just a single word change, which is a pain.

FYI, it is possible to do this with a workflow already, so it would make sense to expand this to the batch updates. While we're at it, it would be helpful to be able to do more than one of these in a single batch update. Right now this has to be done for every individual in every role that needs updating, so if I need to update a single contact in multiple roles, I'm ending up doing a bunch of batch updates.

All great suggestions! Here is another one to add to the list: sometimes you have built some dynamic visibility, but then realize that your base field is wrong (i.e. the chain should start further back from another field). It would be nice to be able to build the flow both forwards and backwards because what happens now is that you have to start from nothing when this happens.

It would make sense to me if you could set a fiscal year in the Global Settings and then have that as the basis for Advanced Searches through date fields.
