  1. It would be great if we could choose in setup whether to have letters open in PDF or Word. Sometimes we need to edit the letter a little and we can't do that in PDF

  2. It would be ideal to be able to create a journal entry that affects more than one fund at a time (versus, having to enter one fund, post, go back out, create the next part, post, etc.)

  3. Being able to type out 08312017 and having the form understand this as the date , instead of needing to click the drop downs or enter it as : 2017-08-31

  4. I think it would be great if we were able to override the default letter templates.

For example, the standard donation would be generic but then we could have a memorial template where we could add a blurb about being "honored to be included in your thoughtful remembrances of your loved ones and friends."

Or additionally, donations to a single fund vs. a donation to multiple, etc...

  5. We have quite a few funds that have SIMILAR names and are really understood best by their short name - being able to search the short name instead of typing out the fund name would be SO HELPFUL. (Currently we are only able to search in the global search field with short names)

  6. Several folks have indicated that if the "search" function was on the top of the donation page it would be very helpful. Unless you scroll to the very bottom you don't realize it is there.

  7. Is there a way to pin notes to the top of the screen? When looking up a fund the notes seem to get lost at the bottom. If they were on the top right, below Fund Advisor then when opening a Fund in Community Suite you would see them.

  8. When a profile has a prefix listed, the search field sorts the names alphabetically using the prefix as the deciding character.

For example I may search for Sydney Jones. Sydney could be male or female with the added corresponding prefix. For this example, Ms. Sydney Jones is how the profile information is entered. If one didn't know that Sydney Jones was a female then the results displayed could potentially have four areas the name could be.

Searching for Jones profiles yields: All Jones listed in alphabetical order. Sydney's profile could appear as: Jones, Sydney; Jones, Mr. Sydney; Jones, Mrs. Sydney;…

  9. We have quite a few internal controls at our Foundation. One of them involves the matching of debit and credit numbers between the bank reconciliation and the bank statement. Because we are a one person finance department, Someone checks some of the work I do such as reconciliation of bank and investment accounts. The bank reconciliation has no totals on anything to reconcile back to the bank statement. We are used to having deposit/credit amounts, checks/debit amounts, interest, and fees summarized at the very least. Looking at the reconciliation from CSuite – if a debit total and credit total could…

  10. We have quite a few funds at our Community Foundation that have two components - An institutional liability fund and a designated asset to the not-for-profit that started the fund. Our short name (fund id) distinguishes between the two with the agency fund being a 1 (Example CLUB1) and the designated fund being a 2 (Example CLUB2) In our previous software we were able to roll both funds up into a master fund so the not-for-profit could see all of the support being received together. We have a school system that has 26 scholarship funds and 1 general fund that…

  11. Has any thought been given to having "Semi Annual" as an option for statement intervals? Currently the options are Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly.

  12. Add a County field under profiles. Also allow County to be entered with a grant. In the case of scholarships, we want to flag the student's county, not the county the college is in. We are a 5 county Community Foundation and our board likes to know where we are serving.

  13. Are there any plans to develop or bring on board scholarship management software in the near future? If not, would you recommend a particular software service? And can that service be integrated with CSuite/GLM?

  14. One of the functions of Community Foundations is to do the back office work for some of the not-for-profits in our area – as is the case for most of our agency funds. The balance sheet is used as an assets under management tool which is why we include our agency funds in our asset total BUT they are not our true assets which is the need for the liability number to show on the balance sheet. Our ability to print financials right out of our software is very important to us and is a requirement for our grantees to…

  15. Refunds, CLATs, and payments are not considered gifts in the accounting world. Need to be able to distinguish between Gifts and Non-gifts and the non-gift account number should be blank to be filled in instead of using a default number. Non-gifts should not be considered Gifts in donation reporting. FIMS had this feature and in CSuite there are too many steps to re-categorize these transactions.

  16. When we print checks, the
number is spelled out all lower case. Example:

    "twenty-five thousand dollars and 00/100"

It would look a lot more professional if the first letter was capitalized.

  17. Journal entries have to be made occasionally for accounting purposes only and should not appear on the Fund Statement as it only raises customer service questions. While some CF may want to show all CSuite entries others (like GiveWell) would like the option to suppress this information and only show the Fund Summary information.
