This is specifically regarding SLM Universal Applications for Student Applicants. It looks like when students submit an application with a third party request, the application will sit in the "Action Needed" bucket until their third party submits their response. However, there is no clear way to indicate to a student THAT is the action that is needed. I used to direct the students to keep an eye out for their third party and reach out to them before the deadline if it still reads "0/2" or "1/2" (image titled "Third Party OLD") now, students will have to click into their application, scroll all the way to the third party and figure out which ones haven't submitted (Image titled "Third Party NEW"). If left as is, I as the administrator will have to email each student who hasn't submitted what - and it is so much better to manage when the students can track that on their own.
