The October release is targeting a smart search feature to improve performance on list views; however, this initial release has limited availability and is targeted for GA in the February release.

Good usability suggestions, the only item not under consideration is the last one with the ability to leverage a user's SQL

Currently, it operates as an all-or-nothing mechanism. You can turn on the ability to emulate for a certain role, but it allows the user to emulate all other roles for which emulation is enabled. The purpose behind this request would be to allow users with a specific role to emulate ONLY users in other specified roles, essentially tightening up security within the emulate feature.
