    We often charge funds when a stop payment is placed on a check, or insurance is charged to a fund, additional admin expenses for special projects, etc. There is a lot of room for error with having to do this with two separate journal entries.   3. It would be really great if Community Suite were set up for us to create template letters for things like quarterly statements. We never just send the statement, we always include a letter of some kind and it would make things a lot simpler if we could print statements and letters for the same list of folks at the same time.

  4. We have quite a few internal controls at our Foundation. One of them involves the matching of debit and credit numbers between the bank reconciliation and the bank statement. Because we are a one person finance department, Someone checks some of the work I do such as reconciliation of bank and investment accounts. The bank reconciliation has no totals on anything to reconcile back to the bank statement. We are used to having deposit/credit amounts, checks/debit amounts, interest, and fees summarized at the very least.   5. When we approve more than one grant in a bulk manner, all of the grants create vouchers. Since we frequently pay the grants over more than one payment, I have to go in and manually unpost the vouchers. It would be great if there was a question when you did bulk approval to ask if the system should post payment vouchers or not.

  8. We often receive gifts from other charities where we want to count the income as a GIFT, but the amount is not eligible for a tax receipt under Canadian Law. Currently the only way to manage in CSuite is to generate a tax receipt number for the transaction, and then simply not issue the receipt. This creates reconciliation issues for tax receipt numbers, which must be sequential and accounted for for Canada Revenue Agency requirements. It would be much better if we could select a "do not receipt" or "no tax receipt" option when donation is input which would suppress…

  9. The equity in most of our funds include contibuted capital, spendable and some reserves. Current Fund Statements report only the total Fund balance and the spendable amount. We need to report the capital and reserves separately. The addition of more flexibility in terms of statement views for Fund Statements would allow us to disclose more equity categories than just spendable.

  14. We like to send a "courtesy thank you" to donors who donate from their DAF, either with our foundation or from an external custodian like Schwab Charitable.

    Right now if we try to do that with the donation templates, it would print the contact info for the custodian, not the advisor (donor). We'd like to have it addressed to the advisor.

  16. We have a donor advised fund with 7 advisors This is a fund set up by a family with young adult children to teach them about philanthropy.

    The format of this fund is that each adult child can request up to three grants per year with a granting limit of $2,500 per calendar year. Is this something that can be tracked on the advisor level? Is there some reporting that can be set up?

  17. Refunds, CLATs, and payments are not considered gifts in the accounting world. Need to be able to distinguish between Gifts and Non-gifts and the non-gift account number should be blank to be filled in instead of using a default number. Non-gifts should not be considered Gifts in donation reporting. FIMS had this feature and in CSuite there are too many steps to re-categorize these transactions.

  19. Since we book the full amount of the scholarship up front it would be very helpful to have that reflected in the balance. It is confusing for the donors when they see their available balance but it is not accurate due to the booked scholarships.
