  1. In the Message Queue, the “To” field currently displays the user’s current profile email, not the email address that was actually used when the message was sent. When a user updates their email address, historical messages appear as though they were sent to the new address, even when they were not. This makes it impossible to reliably determine which email address received a message at the time it was issued.
This is an issue for auditability, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, privacy breach investigations, and resolving disputes about notification, delivery, or non‑receipt. A message log must be able to stand…

  2. The system will automatically timeout sessions for users at the interval specified on the Security page, or sometimes earlier if there is an error. There is an automatic timeout notification that pops up immediately before the session times out, but it would improve user experience and accessibility to be able to configure a notification with more time before the timeout, so that the user could have a chance to save their work. It would also be nice to be able to customize the notification message.

  3. Implement a global search feature that enables users to search by grant name, user name, or organization name. When a user is searched, the results should include:

A direct link to the user’s profile

Links to all organizations the user is affiliated with

A list of all grants associated with the user

This enhancement would streamline navigation and improve access to relevant information across the platform.

This search may be surfaced in the header and should take advantage of the OpenSearch work being done to ensure the fastest performance.

  4. It is critical and imperative for our work that the ability to choose different email addresses when using Email Templates/Group Email is implemented again (in the deprecated personal email settings). This has a major impact on the work that we do. We rely on this feature quite heavily. Without this feature we need to email stakeholders manually, which is taking a step back for us.

  5. When exporting a reporting that includes rich text fields, the export includes unrendered HTML. This HTML then needs to be stripped out to make the content of the report readable.

Suggest to add an option on the report and list view export to strip html from the export. Include a tooltip to advise that this will impact formatting.

  6. The ability to export the custom field list from L1, L2 or L3, users, orgs or any system object, with settings such as mandatory toggle, description, select values, and including the role, status, and type permission settings, into Excel, or the ability to build a report builder report where you can customize the settings to be exported. The system design summary pulls some of this data into a word table format, which can be copied into Excel, but it is cumbersome and only copies from the core fieldset. Being able to export directly and easily from the custom field list…

  8. Request: Can the SSO default authentication error message be updated, perhaps by client instance? Is there any way for users not to hit a dead end but be nudged towards the correct behaviour?

Context: Logging in on the SSO “happy path” works well (users follow directions and know if they already have registered with SmartSimple or not). These users do things in the right order: Users click the Create an account button if they have not previously registered in SmartSimple, or they click the Log in button if they have.

The “unhappy path” does not work, where users think they…

  10. Is there a reason you included a document upload field in the "Interaction" L2 form that appears in our Activities list of the L1 application forms, but didn't include any way to view or download documents uploaded there?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

  12. It would be helpful see how many records total are selected from a list we are viewing instead of having to manually count. Some of our lists span well over 100 records for different things and if we're needing to select specific records on the list to change the statuses, there is nothing at the top of the page to indicate how many as been selected.

  13. With the Smart Simple October 2025 Update to the Rich Text Editor, the window is no longer resizable.

The specific field type for the Rich Text Editor is: Special - Rich Text. It would be ideal if the window has the ability to be resized both vertically and horizontally.

An example of text windows that are fully adjustable are those with the "Text Box - Text Multiple Lines" field type, and the Width is set to "Full" under the display options (Width), allows for both horizontal and vertical adjustment

  14. Add the ability to hide specific columns in the global user lookup list view settings. This would allow admins to include fields (e.g., a unique ID) in the lookup view so users can search by them, without displaying those fields in the list view.

    1. Go to Global Settings
    2. Users > Lookup List Views
    3. Edit the default user lookup list view
    4. Select a column and add a toggle button to “Hide Column” here (similar to List views)

  16. On the L2 view within the L1, there are two scroll bars on the right and then a bottom scroll bar below all the L2s. if there are many L2s on the list, one would have to scroll all the way down to move the scroll bar to the right. It would be nice to have the bottom scroll bar be static on the page.

  17. Fix the Advanced Search feature with the following improvements:
    - open the search in a modal window so we can see all the criteria in the search
    - provide functionality to change the order of criteria
    - Include previously used queries dropdown (either customizable or most recent X queries)
    - return the closing parenthesis
    - add a "power user" option for people to include their own SQL queries

  19. It would be very useful to have a separate reporting database or the ability to replicate the database for reporting purposes.

For us this could be useful to have a data lake that could be used externally like with Power BI. We currently run many very complex reports using SmartConnect API's against our live instance (because they are too complex for the built-in reports).
This can cause major slowdowns in the live system with some of our more intense reports.

There was a suggestion regarding AI insights where John Fulton suggested a data lake. It would be great if we…

  20. When generating an application summary, tables don't format properly. There's no way to control table column size. When you have more than 8 columns, longer field names get compressed to two characters. This makes no sense because these are the longer ones. For example, if you have columns with numbers and then a comments field, you can't increase the width of the comments field to make it readable.

When generating PDFs from web‑based application data, tables are rendered within a fixed page width and rely on automatic column scaling. When a table contains a large number of columns (such as 8 or more), the available horizontal space is divided across all columns, which can cause headers and values, particularly those with longer content, to become compressed.

While it is technically possible to influence table and column widths through more advanced configuration using custom CSS, this approach is fragile and difficult to maintain. PDF rendering engines often interpret CSS inconsistently, and small changes to data, labels, or page layout can easily break the formatting. As a result, this custom configuration solution is typically not reliable enough for dynamic application data and may introduce ongoing maintenance challenges, making it impractical for many use cases.

Additionally, from a design and usability perspective, long‑form or narrative content (such as comments) is not…
