ChatGPT
A donor questioned how AI might impact scholarship and grant applications, something I hadn't considered. I wonder if there's been any discussion about building in some check to ensure AI hasn't written answers.

commentedThis very topic came up from a scholarship committee this scholarship cycle. An evaluator ran an essay through 4 different AI checkers and it came back 99% AI generated. Our staff definitely does not have the capacity to run every essay through an AI checker and the donor wants to make the use of AI in essays a disqualifer. We cannot disqualify unless we have a reliable and efficient way to check for AI.

commentedWe've run some of our essay answers through an AI detector and found the results startling this year. I would love to see an integrated AI detection program within SLM. Our grants committee will be working on some guidelines around AI before our next scholarship season, and I know even with a detector, we have to be careful. I only see this problem growing, and any way to manage it without a lot of manual work will be held during the busy scholarship season.

commentedA plug in with AI detection for scholarship applications would be very valuable to our organization.
