Changing the order of report fields
My question is slightly similar to Mary's 9/6 post. It involves custom report fields rather than those created within a form, however.
Will users ever be able to change the order of the custom report fields? I have created lots of custom report fields to make better use of the mail merge function. Although the mail merge templates work beautifully, I made some mistakes as I added fields and on some forms the fields are not always logically ordered. Some instances are more extreme than others, but I have attached what I believe might be a clear example.
None of our applicants have complained or questioned us on this issue. It's more of a cosmetic concern and it's a little embarrassing. Nonetheless, I'm wondering if there are currently any plans to allow re-ordering or if you guys can suggest a work-around. (I realize that I could change the order by editing existing custom fields, but that could take a really long time.)
The ability to re-order the fields on the "Report Field Templates" page would be nice. The ability to re-order the fields within a process would be even better.

I would definitely like to be able to map form questions to report fields so that the form question answers populate the report field. I just asked this question a couple of days ago so it's awesome that I'm not a weirdo for wondering!

http://null Has there been any continued thought to #2 in Raymond's original message?
"Evenutally we'd like to change the way report fields work by allowing one to build forms and then map or associate questions to report fields. This would our amazing users place report fields questions anywhere in a form and would allow more flexibility around what to report upon and when."
I would love to see a greater ability for us to customize where report fields are placed in a form so that the flow is better for all parties involved: applicants, administrators, and reviewers.

I don't have anything especially new to add to the conversation. I just wanted to echo many of the comments that have already been stated about having flexibility of re-ordering the report fields.

Yes, I would like to agree with this conversation. We have our application in sections that group information together. It is rather odd to have a few of those that should be in certain groups right at the top. It looks like we don't know how to organize information!

I'd like to add my thumbs-up to the idea of allowing flexibility for placing report fields anywhere in a form. Our report fields center around the goals that applicants have for a grant -- they list the goals that they would use the grant funds to accomplish. In a grant agreement, we repeat those goals that all parties agree to, and finally in the grant report they appear again for analysis. It's been a little strange to have the goals for the grant at the very top of an application before even the instructions and grant purpose/need statement appears.
We would be very delighted to have the ability to move report fields to other parts of the application.
Thanks, Raymond and the Foundant crew.

Your request is beyond valid. We have a two phase process in mind:
1. For starters, allow re-ordering of report fields in both the template area and in processes.
2. Eventually we'd like to change the way report fields work by allowing one to build forms and then map or associate questions to report fields. This would our amazing users place report fields questions anywhere in a form and would allow more flexibility around what to report upon and when.
I can't tell you when we'll being doing all of the above, but I'm hoping #1 is sooner rather than later. Thank you for your positive and helpful input Shantrell!
best,
-Raymond
