Lift Requirement Restriction when Entering a Grant Internally
When a trustee makes a discretionary grant, we have the non-profit register in Foundant so that we can make the grant in Foundant. We do not, make the nonprofit submit a full application as this was not a request made by them. When we click Enter Grant, however, we get the same application as the nonprofit would, so the fields marked required are still required, which means we have to go in and fill every field with something (usually just N/A) so that we have something to approve and grant. Can the requirement restriction be lifted for discretionary grants?
Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary,
There are many different ways to handle trustee discretionary grants in GLM. Below are probably the two most common:
1) Create a separate Internal Process with a very streamlined form for staff's data entry. Select this Process instead of the standard Process when staff manually enters the discretionary grants.
2) Create a streamlined, Restricted Process where you can direct the non-profits to fill-in a simple "application". The application can be very simple so it doesn't create overhead for the grantee but it can be a great way for you to capture the information you need to create an adequate audit trail for these grants. One of our clients went so far as to roll in some grant agreement text on their form so the "application" form serves as both a data capture tool as well as a grant agreement. A sample of this form can be viewed on our new Sample Forms Demo Site.
Let us know if you have other questions or would like any sample forms moved into your Demo site for testing.
