Ability to close a grant from the follow up screen

Here is an idea to add to your growing and shrinking (as ideas are incorporated in updates) list. It would be helpful to ahve the option to close a grant from the follow up screen. Once a grantee has submitted the grant report, and it has been accepted, we consider the grant closed. In order to mark it as such I click on the project name which takes me to another screen so I can close the grant. I wonder if there could be an option to close the grant once you indicate the follow up material they submitted is complete?

    Hi Laura and Dana,

    We've added the ability to close a grant from the follow up page (after you mark the follow up complete). This was added a few weeks ago in 3.6.0 ... hope it helps!

    I checked out the batch close on the demo site yesterday and was really happy with it.

    Most of our grants are one year grants as well, but we do have one program that is a three year grant process- though there are only ever three granted organizations in the system at one time. These are treated with a little extra care, making the issue of a Close Grant button at the bottom not much of an issue (we would know not to close these until we were ready).

    Hopefully that is helpful feedback?!? Thanks for putting this together Chris!

    Chris - that would be helpful. We only award one year grants, so for the the most part we only have one follow up form to track (thankfully)!

    Hi Laura and Dana,

    Thanks for the suggestion and the good description. First, I'd like to say that in the upcoming 3.4.0 release, we have added Batch Close capability. This will apply to requests that are in a status of either "Approved" or "Follow Up Complete".

    Second, I can see where we could add a button to close the request after you mark a Follow Up as complete. This would only be available if there were no other open Follow Ups (for example, if you had assigned the applicant 3 follow ups and you were just marking the first one complete). It's not a high priority, but given the fact it looks like pretty low effort, I think we could use it as filler in an upcoming release.

    Would that work, Laura?

    That is a great idea! I was going to suggest something along these lines, as we do the follow up and closing in large batches.

    I notice that there is a short cut back to "Follow Up Submitted" after the follow up is Complete, and I would use this to go back to the Submitted list. Then, when I go to the Granted list to then Close the grants, I keep hoping there would be a check box down the list so I can batch Close these grants. That doesn't exist, but I hoped that could be a solution to the back and forth across the site...

    I think Laura's idea is superior though! A simple button at the bottom to Close, after you mark the follow up Complete, would be simplest!
