Ability to change uploaded document description and type (Updated in 3.2.0)
It would be very helpful if these fields were changeable. It is a sortable field and thus having things that all start with a date makes it easy to place them in order. But, old documents were not named in that fashion so in order to accomplish this, I have to delete and upload again just to rename in the description field.

With the 3.2.0 release a few weeks ago, you should now be able to edit the description and type of the of the document. Also, I noticed that the sort isn't working so we'll have that fixed in the upcoming 3.3.0 release (mid-February tentatively).
We will consider some of the other ideas going forward. They are a bit more involved and not high-priority when stacked against other changes we're working on, so I'm not sure when we'll get to them.

I agree. The ability to rename an uploaded document would be helpful as twell - he only option now is to delete and reload with new name.

I agree with Lauren, it would be extremely helpful if we could edit the date. It would make for a clean chronological order of correspondance, submitted documents, etc. I have to admit that sometimes things get away from me and I just don't have time to upload the day of.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been working on some tweaks to the User Interface and I have a better sense of what we might be able to do. I don't think this is a big effort and I'll see if we can get the ability to edit the type and description into a release in the next few months.
As for the additional types, we'll discuss that in our product team meetings and see if we can get some consensus around them.

The types of documents that we upload in addition to those you already listed are reformatted grant materials, supplemental grant materials, updates on grants, and our own notes about the grant/grantee. I don't think the types you list need to be that specific, but possibly adding "grant materials" and "internal notes" could be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can see where what you're suggesting would be useful. At this point, it's not something on our near-term roadmap, but as we move forward, we'll keep it in mind when we look at document-related functionality.
One question for you both - when you say "change the type" ... what values for "type" would you want to be able to set?

I agree!
It would also be helpful if we had the capability to edit the date. That way, we could set it to be the actual date of the document, rather than the date of the upload. This would be particularly helpful for historical grants data, that you upload now but is from the past.
