For integer responses -- add commas
Hi -- Would it be possible for integer responses on LOIs/Apps/Reports to automatically add in commas in appproiate places?
E.g., -- we ask on our LOI how many individuals will be served by a program, and allow for an integer response. The applicant may enter "120000" as a response -- which is a little hard to read. It would be helpful to see the answer as "120,000," just as one would normally write the number.
Needless to say this isn't pressing, but I perhaps also not hard to do...? Are there any drawbacks (I can't think of any...)?

Hi Chris - I might be missing something (I'm new to GLM), but I don't understand why integers and currency fields don't automatically format with commas, or at least give us the option of choosing that as a format for the question.
thanks,

Hi all,
Thanks for the plentiful input ;-) ... I think the 3.2.0 release will have some improvements for this issue. I'm not sure it'll catch every occurrence, but we've definitely tried to make the fix as widespread as possible. 3.2.0 should be in Demo in early December and Production before Christmas (barring any bad surprises). When we get it to a place you can look at it, I'll appreciate hearing if it has fixed the issue or if we've missed some spots.
Thanks,
-chris

Installment amount is one place we definitely don't see commas and would like to.

I'll echo the request. A comma for currency and larger integers (that I don't have to remember to enter or ask that others do it) would be lovely for my boss.....

Chris, I would ditto Mara's request. I would say anywhere there is a currency question would be helpful to have a comma in the appropriate spots. We have several currency questions in Report Fields, such as Amount Requested, Amount Awarded, among others, and then some in the forms as well.
Thanks!

I was referring to a text box. I'm not sure if it is you, or my browser, but when I add the amount of a grant or a payment, several options will appear (100, 1000, 10000 etc). It always makes me pause to make sure that I select the correct amount. Should I enter amounts with commas so they pop-up as options?

Hi Mara,
Besides when the text box is editable (so when a person can enter an amount, Is there anywhere a $ amount is being displayed without a comma(s)? I haven't seen a place, but I could easily be missing something.
In terms of displaying non-currency fields (just straight integer fields), do you have some examples of where they are not being displayed with a comma? I don't think it would be too hard to fix the display, but I want to make sure I have a concrete example.
Thanks,
-chris

We enter some grants manually so I guess I'm an applicant as well as an administrator. It would be helpful to have the comma anytime a $ amount is entered/displayed (5000 vs 50000 vs 500000) - they all start to look alike without the comma.

Hi Meredith,
Just so I understand - do you just mean when you as an administrator or reviewer are looking at the answers, or do you mean it should auto-format itself as the applicant types it in? If it's the former, the toughest thing about doing this is making sure it is done in ALL the places it should be. That said, it shouldn't be too hard to at least get it added in a handful of places. I'll make a note to have this investigated. If it's the latter - that would be more complicated and a fair bit more effort, so please let me know.
Thanks,
-chris
