Reports Beta! "Saved Reports Tab"
The "Saved Reports" Tab in Reports Beta could be improved. I created a report, saved it, then made some changes to the formatting, and saved it again (with the same name). I expected that it was overwriting the original report format file. Instead it saved my multiple versions of the same report. Now, that I want to look at my final version of the report, how do I know which one to choose?
My suggestions:
On the "Saved Reports" tab, list the date & time that the report file was saved (like you might see in Windows Explorer).
When you save the report format with the same name, it overwrites the original file with the updated changes.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for the comment - you're not alone. We've had a couple calls with our reporting vendor regarding a number of issues, including exactly the one you are referencing - not being able to see the name of the saved report when you are in it. At this point, we are having some back-and-forth with them regarding what can be done to address this. I wish I could say we have a quick fix for this - I know it impacts a lot of folks who are using reporting, and it's frustrating on this side not to be able to be able to offer a better workaround, but that's the current state.
As we continue working with our vendor, if we come up with a resolution or a better workaround, I'll definitely be letting people know. Thanks again,

Chris,
My problem is that when I am in the report and want to save it and I don't remember exactly what it was called, how can I put a version number on it. The name of the report is NOT ON the report anywhere. That would be a help if we aren't able to get it. All that is on the report is what TYPE of report it is. Such as Decisions, etc.
Any chance of us getting something like that added?

Hi Lynn and Karen,
In response to your question, Lynn, a number of improvements to reporting have been made. However, the particulare change for the issue in this Idea Lab item haS not been implemented yet. We don't have complete control over the saving of files in the reporting tool, so there are some challenges for us to address this issue. One thing that some folks have done is when they save subsequent versions of a report, they put a version number on the end (which allows them to determine the most recent version). Admittedly, this is not the optimal solution. As we continue to address higher priority items, we will continue to work toward a more complete solution for this issue.
Thanks,
-chris

Have these changes been made yet? Just wondering as I too would like it to just rewrite over, or even better would be if there would be a "save" and a "save as" button.
Thanks.

Thanks for the input Karen.
We are actually compiling some ideas for the next enhancements to Reports Beta and I will make sure the Save function improvements are on the list. Keep the ideas and comments coming.
Thanks again,
Kris
