Expand all Batch Options to include a "Write Email" option
There have been several occasions when I’ve wanted to send a batch email. For example, when an application deadline is approaching, I like to remind all potential applicants about the deadline for submitting their applications. The only way I’ve been able to do so is in the “user” tab, where I “check” the box next the name of each user to whom I want to send the email. I’d like to be able to send emails directly from Application – Draft and from other tabs.

Chris, thank you! I'm delighted that we'll be able to send batch emails on the workload pages and the Request Search and Decisions pages. Your explanations about how we will and won't be able to use this function make great sense.

Hi Jan and Rosanna,
This "batch email" functionality is slated to be included in our 3.8.0 release - which should be going to Demo this week. The release notes will include more details about how it works, but basically it will be available on all the "workload pages" (Application Draft, Submitted, Complete, etc), as well as on the improved Request Search & Decisions page.
We are limiting the number of requests that can be selected for batch email to no more than 100. If an applicant has more than one request, they will receive an email for each request. The reason for this is that as we look down the road to potential email merge functionality, the merge information would be request-specific, so we need to do the emails at that level.
In addition, you will not be able to add additional receipients in an ad hoc manner - once the recipients have been selected, you won't be able to enter another recipient. This is in part due to "email history" feature we are adding (it depends on "knowing" who the recipient is and that's harder to do when emails addresses are entered manually).
Keep an eye out for an announcement about the release of 3.8.0 to Demo. Also, assuming we achieve good stability and performance in DEMO over the next few weeks, we are hoping to release 3.8.0 to production by mid-August.

Thanks for the suggestion - it's one that has been discussed internally for a bit now. In addition to still trying to prioritize it against other features, there are a couple things we're still trying to iron out in terms of the functionality. For instance, should a user be able to enter additional email addresses to a "batch" email? Is there a limit on how many users should be included in a batch email?
We're also trying to think about it in the context of archiving sent emails ... we don't want to do some work and then have to re-work the feature as we add another feature.
All that said - it is something we are aware of and is definitely on our product roadmap. If you have additional comments about how you see this feature working, please let me know.

This will be helpful. I was trying to contact our recent grantees to let them know that their grant letters are on their way. I'm going to have to email them individually when it would be helpful to send just one group email instead of 64. Any suggestions on how to get this done easily would be appreciated.
