Denial Decision date and comments (Updated in 3.1.0)
Currently, when you look at the snapshop of an organization's application and grant history it is organized by date. For approved grants, it's the decision date that's listed. For denied applications, it seems to be the date the denial is entered in the database.
Could denials also have a "decision date" field? That way they would also be organized by the decision date and not the date it was keyed into the system. We've run into some problems with the chronology when we haven't been able to get the denial decisions into the system in a timely manner. For example--when a decision was made in December, but we didn't key it in until January of the following year.
On another related topic, would anyone else find it useful to be able to edit denial comments after decisions are made? Right now, I'm not able to go back in and update them and that would be useful for us.

Hi Lynn,
I reviewed the code history and from what I can see, when you click Deny on the BaseFormView page, the contents of the comment box do not get saved - you simply get redirected to the ApplicationDecision page. This is not something that has changed, but admittedly it is confusing. I think we are going to be working on improving Comments for requests sometime relatively soon and that should help address this issue.
Thanks

Chris,
I was wrong about one thing. The box is labeled "Decision Comment" not denial comment. But the issue is the same.
I am in the live site and start on my dashboard. I click on submitted LOI's, then on the review icon of the organziation. I reveiw the LOI and at the bottom there is a box labeled "Decision Comment". I check all complete and put in my comments then click "Deny" and when it comes back and I scroll to the bottom to "Save Denial" the box is now labeled "Overall Comments" with no sign of my "decision comment." Where did it go? It seems redundant to have to retype my comment in the "Overall Comment" box. Is there somewhere else that the decision commment be seen?
Here is a URL that is an example: https://www.grantinterface.com/Foundation/Administration/BaseFormView.aspx?eqs=oVBumf2XVy8MFenCB3IVjmmQR6Kw4AepwboJtoI3baVU1FiB8espo_MMzgyxeQ_sOLS6cdmRTH81
I have put it back to LOI submitted so you can see it.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Lynn,
That sounds odd. Where are you seeing this - Production or Demo? When I test this in Production (the URL of the page I am on is https://www.grantinterface.com/Foundation/Administration/ApplicationDecision.aspx ), the first time I go to the page it says "Overall comments" for the text area. When I add some comments and deny the grant, the comment box stays populated. If you go in to deny another request, do you still see the "Denial Comments" text area or do you see the "Overall Comments" text area?
In the system, Denial Comments and "Overall Comments" were saved in the same place - we tried to make things more consistent by just making the comment area always be "Overall Comments". We also added logic to enable you to edit and update the comments for a denial. So in this case where your denial comment disappeared, you should be able to enter it into the "overall comments" box and save the denial again.
As for where your original comment went ... it's hard to tell. If you could provide a bit more information on which environment you were in, which request you were denying, and the comment you entered, I could do a bit of research, but my guess is that this was a one-time thing that won't happen again. I'll know more when I hear your response to my question above
Thanks

The box that says "Denial Comments" seems to disappear once you deny. Maybe I am missing where it shows up after that? I put comments in Denial Comments and I denied the grant. Then when I pull up that application again to look at it, the box that shows says "Overall comments" and there are no comments listed. I assume it is because it is a different box, but then where did my "Denial Comments" go?

Hi Ladan,
Thanks for the suggestion. It's something we've noticed and are in the process of fixing. Within the next month or so, you will be able to enter a Decision Date for denials as well as edit comments. This will be true of new and existing decisions.
Hope that will help.
