Encouraging application
I would propose to add a status, which comes before Application Draft in the timeline, called "Encouraging Application." This would not be anything the applicant submitted - it would be like the Decision Form, entered by the grants manager, but it would have to be optional. This would allow me to get organizations in the queue that I have been talking to about applying, and make notes about our conversations and my efforts/encouragements to date, and then to stop worrying about them once they moved into the Application Draft status. So often I lose sight of an organization that we'd really like to fund, because they don't apply every year or don't respond to my first encouraging email. I try to update a spreadsheet to keep track of them but it would be much simpler to keep it all in the system.
