Searching for a former name of an orgnization - not DBA
Here is a common scenario. An org is fiscally sponsored by a church and then gets their own 501c3 status and changes their name. In foundant, we would update the org name to say (formerly XYZ Church). When evaluators see the church name - they often ask whether services are limited to members of that church even when the org has nothing to do with the church (e.g., a food bank). To remove any confusion for evaluators - I tried adding the church name to the Sort Name, but when I tried to do a search for the church - the result did not show for the org. Someone posted this idea a while ago and it got archived, but I'm raising this again since the new context might add rationale for why this is helpful. We'd like to be able to search for a previous name of an organization via the Sort Name feature. We added a field in the org profile for DBA (Doing Business As), but the need here is different than DBA.

Right now we rely on institutional knowledge from someone in the building to remember who has a fiduciary, name change, new tax id number, etc. I do keep a spreadsheet of bizarre names, fiduciary orgs, and name changes. Another outside document that needs to be maintained. With the addition of pinned comments, we "pin" a comment on the profile stating who is their current fiduciary. But this is not a searchable option.
We do have CSuite and those that have access can search for org names and hope to follow the breadcrumbs.Attached is what I do in GLM for an organization that just needed a change. This one is not exactly the same situation. However, I have several similar to Danny's post.
