Department Codes per GL Line
It would be amazing to have the ability to set up department codes as an optional field that can be selected on each line item when entering a voucher, and thus show up when looking at the GL detail for each expense item.
We have started doing our budget to actual reporting internally by department and some accounts are used by multiple departments. This would be a huge help!

We were able to accomplish something similar to this in one of our CSuite sites by using campaigns to tag the GL lines on vouchers. The limitation here is you can't see the tags in an income statement and you can't view multiple campaigns in a standard income statement. We had to create custom general ledger reports to view. You also can't see campaigns as part of a budget reporting option. For budgets by departments, we use subfunds as a department. You can run a report with the "department" fund as columns that totals to the total org budget. Each option has various limitations but hope that helps some.
