Sync the Organization Sort Name

The Sort Name should automatically sync with the Organization Name any time the Administrator makes a change to the Organization Name. An Administrator should still be able to override the Sort Name by entering something different into the Sort Name field, but the default should be to sync with the wording shown in the Organization Name field.

    Thanks for your response. I'll run it by our product team and depending on their feedback, either ask for more information or add it to the backlog

    The first option captures what I had in mind. Edit the Organization Name. Click Save. The Sort Name field is refreshed and automatically updates to be the same as the edited Organization Name. However, I would not want it to work in reverse. A change to the Sort Name should not result in a change to the Organization Name. The Sort Name should be open for edit without impacting the Organization Name in case a user has a reason for the Sort Name to be different from the Organization Name.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the suggestion. Just to make sure I understand ... say you have an organization with a name of "ABC Food Kitchen" and a Sort Name of "The ABC Food Kitchen". If you edit the name to be "ABC Good Food Kitchen", you would expect the Sort Name to now be "ABC Good Food Kitchen" as well, correct?

    Assuming so, there are a couple ways to do that. The simplest is just to update the Sort Name after the user clicks "Save" after doing the editing. Would that be acceptable? The biggest problem I see is that it's not that obvious to users, so they could inadvertently change the Sort Name by editing the Name and clicking Save. Or would you expect the text in the Sort Name box to change as a user changes the text in the Name box? Or would you expect the text in the Sort Name box to only change after a user leaves (tabs out or clicks out) of the Name box?

    Depending on the complexity, it's something we could consider slotting into a release at some point.
