Make it easier to add a user
I've had to add a couple of users this week and noticed that, when on an organization page, I click "Add User" only to be brought to the general page for adding a user, which means choosing the organization despite the fact that I just came from the organization page. Given the large number of organizations that have registered in our system, this makes the process a bit more cumbersome than it needs to be, especially since I can no longer delete a good number of duplicates from the list (because they've had Charity Check clicked).
Can we have a way to tell the system that I'm trying to add a user to the organization that I'm looking at?
Thanks

Hi all,
Thanks for the input. We added a this as a new feature (the checkbox to "use organization address" information) as of 3.6.0, released to production a week ago.
If you have some new functionality you would like to add, please create a new Idea for it as it's really hard to track multiple milestones in a single Idea Lab posting.
Thanks again, and I hope the new feature is working well for folks.

From the administrator side it would be very helpful to have the check box to copy the organization info to the new user!

I am not seeing a check box to enter organizational info (address, phone, etc) when I am adding new users to an organization as an administrator either. Am I missing something? Would certainly like to have it.
thanks

Hi Chris,
For some reason I don't get the "check the box to use org address" when I enter new users. I met with Sammie on Monday in San Jose and showed her. She thought perhaps it isn't working for me because I am an administrator. Right now I print the organization page and then re-enter the information on the new user's page. What is working is that when I am on the organization page and select add a user it now populates the name of the organization.

Sorry Chris, I have been having such a great time adding new users that I forgot to tell you how great this update is!
It really is all that I could have hoped for- the pages direct to exactly where they need to. Thank you so much!!

Hi Dana and Mara,
This has been in production for awhile now. Could you weigh in and let me know if things are working ok so I can go ahead and close this out?
Thanks!

Hi Dana and Mara,
The release we're currently working on (3.1.0) includes what should be some improvements in adding a user. The short Thanksgiving week is complicating our release a bit, but we should have it in our DEMO environment soon and production by the first week of December. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it and what other changes we can make.
Thanks

Yes! Having a check box that would populate the new user with the Organization address & phone # would be helpful. I presume we could still edit the information before saving (add an extension number, etc.). Mara

Hi all,
First, to Mary and Dana:
You should see the change you suggested in production as of our last release (September 18). Sorry I didn't call this out specifically in the release notes - it's been a busy fall.
Second to Mara (but maybe Mary and Dana could weigh in)
Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think we want to populate the fields by default. But we could discuss having a "Use Organization Address & Phone" button (hopefully with shorter verbiage) on the add user page. This way, whether or not you come to this page from the Organization Summary page (Foundation/Administration/OrganizationView.aspx) or the User Manager (Foundation/Administration/UserManager.aspx) pages, once you select an Organization from the Organization drop down list, you could click the "User Org Address" button and it would populate the Address and Phone Number fields with the Organization data.
Thoughts?

Could you also use the organizations address & phone number as a default for a new user with the ability to change if needed? I end up printing the organization page to get the information before I add new users.

Hi Mary and Dana,
100% agree. Barring something I'm totally missing, we should be able to get this into one of the next few releases.
Thanks!

I agree with this! I have seen a few organizations with a similar name, and I may have to copy and paste the org. name before I add new user, just to be sure...but it does seem like it should instinctively connect to the organization that I am working within.
Adding a contact doesn't happen very often for us, but it does happen from time to time, so it would be nice to have the system connect to the organization name without having to really think about it!
Thanks
