If possible, allow Open in New Tab
If it's possible, it would be great to be able to right click on an organization or project name in a list and open it in a new tab so as not to have to click the back button (which doesn't always work) or go to the Dashboard in order to get back to your list. You could run Charity Check, for example, in the new tab, close it, and be back at the list you were working on.

Hi Lauren,
As of 3.2.0 (released earlier this month), most links in grids should now open in new tabs. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know how it's working for you.
Thanks

Hi Jen & Lauren,
Yep, that makes sense. I've run into this a few times myself when trying to replicate an error a user has experienced, and it's definitely nice to be able to have the grant up in a different window. As I noted under the other post, as we look at some user interface refactoring, we'll definitely try to take a look at enabling this where we can. One of the caveats, though, is that managing a user's session across multiple tabs can be a bit challenging - sometimes people forget they have a tab open, and due to inactivity in that tab, they get logged out. It's just important to be aware of that when you're trying to work in multiple tabs.
Thanks for the feedback, and hopefully you'll see some changes on this idea soon.

Hi Chris, thanks for checking in. The times I most often would like to open links in a tab are for when the data is in a grid. For example, I needed to update the internal report field coding on all of the grants within the same cycle. So I looked at the Granted list, sorted for that cycle. Then from there, I would have loved to open each grant in a new tab, to update the coding, and then return to the list in the old tab to identify the next grant to select. Instead, I had to return to the Dashboard and start over. Does that make sense?

I wanted to thumbs up and thumbs down. Thumbs up because yes, Enable New Tabs says good, helpful things; thumbs down because quick links would be exciting and helpful. Any other users out there interested? It would be like how you use your Bookmarks in your web browser.
(gotta lobby for it...!)

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback.
Lauren and Jen ... maybe I'm missing something, but does the Enable New Tabs! posts address your concerns?
Obviously that's not the "Quick Link" CUSTOMIZABLE approach, but that is probably less of a priority for us at this point.
Thanks

This would certainly be a helpful option. further, "Quick Link" buttons that are CUSTOMIZABLE on the left sidebar would be helpful for easier navigation.

Hi Chris,
A quick response on this from my perspective. Often, I want to have a list of grants open in one tab, and then actually take actions with a specific grant in a different tab. Let's say I'd like to approve several grants and assign FollowUps to them. If I were to do this all in the same window, I'd have to start from the Dashboard, review the list, select one grant, make my changes, and then start back at zero. If I could open the grant in a new tab, then I could always have the list to return to in the other tab. Would be a time saver and help me stay organized!

Hi Kathryn, Mary, and Meredith,
In regard to the "new tab" issue, I responded earlier to the following post:
Enable new tabs!
In regard to seeing all the applications for a given process on one page, is there a reason why the "Search Requests" page doesn't work for this?
Thanks

I agree with Kathryn that it would be useful to see all applications in a given process on one screen (assuming one of the colunms is status -- submitted, complete, draft, etc...). Now to see this we do a data export and view it in excel -- but this gives us a static view versus dynamic, updated data.

Kathryn,
Certainly possible theorectically. I've love to hear if other might find that useful. I think eventually we'd like to get to a point where there is more opportunity for dashboard customization. As a stopgap, it is possible today to obtain such a list via the Search Requests item. Thank you Kathryn!

Hi Raymond and Community,
While we're talking about the Dashboard - which we also use all the time as administrators - is there a way to view all of the active grants on one screen - along with their status? While it is helpful to see the grants in each "bucket" - "Submitted", "Complete", "Draft", "Open" or "Closed" - seeing them all on one screen would also be very efficient. We don't tend to process hundreds of grants at a time, though, so perhaps it could be possible to have two possible views of the Dashboard?

Hi Raymond, Mary -- I vociferously second this request. I actually logged on just now to enter this myself when I saw that Mary had beaten me to the punch (thanks, Mary!). This would be tremendiously useful to improve workflow when reviewing a huge inbox of LOIs and/or applications.

Mary,
I can see how that could be helpful. There are a few places where a dialog or a new tab might be helpful. Let me look into it in terms of feasability and any potential unwelcome side-effects and I'll comment back here when I know more or have questions.
In the meantime if anyone else has an area or link that they'd like to see spawned from the main application, please share your ideas.
Thank you!
