collaborator role
When an individual is added as a collaborator, they seem to skip the registration process? They are not tied to an organization and don't have a role assigned. I'm getting emails from people that have been collaborators and think they have access to the system but don't. I'd also like to assign follow ups to a collaborator without having to add them as a user first. Can they automatically be granted applicant status?

This is critical, in my opinion. We end up with individuals listed in the application as a contact with no name, just an email address. We would like to know who they are and their contact information.

I like the idea of being able to search on collaborator role! Would the user be able to have the collaborator role if they're already an applicant in the system? Maybe applicant tied to one organization and collaborator tied to another (if needed)?.
The hiccup you mention is another pain point for me as well - our grantmaking is focused on a University system, and that means that very often we have interdisciplinary teams submitting grants. Each school is a different organization, but we have faculty that have dual appointments across schools, and requests that are a partnership across schools and it's difficult to track these details with the limitation on one organization per user/request. Glad to hear that's under review. (I'd be happy to be a user-resource in that conversation if helpful!)
