alert that applicant has a active grant
It would be great if... there was an alert for applicants notifying them that they have an active grant. With a few exceptions, we do not allow organizations to have more than one active grant (per program) at a time. Recently, I had a couple applicants submit applications who already had active grants. I did not know they had active grants until I looked at each organization's history. It would be great if the active grant was highlighted on their dashboard or they received an alert when applying for a grant notifying them that they had an active grant. This may not stop applicants from applying but will at least make them aware. Highlighting active grants on organizational history pages would be helpful too.

We actually allow applicants to have multiple grants open at once (different types of grants for varied purposes). But if they are out of compliance with reporting for one grant, we would want an alert before paying the next payment for other grants, or before approving a new one (sometimes). I like Dana's flag idea.
I also like Erin's suggestion of highlighting the alert on the applicant's dashboard or when trying to submit a new application, though for us it would be a "out of compliance" alert instead of a "active grant already in existence" alert. The new emails re out-of-date follow-ups are a great start for this but the applicant's dashboard should also call out problems, especially since not all contacts for the organization receive the email notice.

Yes! This would be wonderful, it would help us as we see many organizations with several applicants applying while another grant is active. We had wanted to also "flag" an organization for this reason as well. I set up that post here: https://community.foundant.com/foundant/topics/_flag_an_organization
If there is a way to have a notification for any applicant starting a new application under an organization profile, to be notified that there is an active grant for the organization, this would help us in our tracking as well. We would likely want to still flag an organization if we do see two applications come in, so the different program officers can evaluate the best course of action.
