extra bucket for follow ups
It's hard to tell which follows ups we have reviewed and which ones we haven't. It would be nice if the follow ups had a read/unread status- like emails- or if there was an additional bucket on the dashboard (additional status) for follow ups that have been reviewed. Note that we don't send follow ups back to the applicants because we don't want to have to review it twice. Adding the missing document is much easier. This applies to applications as well.

SLM: I didn't want to add a new idea since this follows along with my thinking in having an extra bucket for follow up. It would be extremely helpful if the bucket labeled assigned/draft were broken out accordingly. This would be much easier to show who hasn't even started a follow up vs. someone who has started it but is unable to submit yet. We require our scholarship recipients to submit a class schedule and statement of account before we can pay the scholarship. Our deadline is July 1 so that we have plenty of time to track down students that are missing information, but there are also many students who's schools won't have this information for them by this time.

Another possibility is a flag beside the follow-up on the follow-ups workload page - which could indicate that something needs to be addressed. In fact, I like the flag option a bit better - it would keep all the submitted follow-ups in one place, but would allow us to indicate that we've already done the first review of the follow-up. The flag would have its own column and we would be able to sort by flagged/unflagged. Ultimately, it would be nice if this linked to the applicable Administrator Comment on the follow-up.

I concur. For our organization, we tie certain followups to payments, and in some cases require two or more followups per payment. I'd love to be able to have the ability to relate followups to one another (nest related followups) or tag/label/sort followups that already are complete AND submitted for payment. This might mean another column, or perhaps some clever color coding, but ideally would be a sortable function of the Complete tab. I just want to ensure completed reports for un-paid requests are easier to find amongst completed reports for paid and fully closed requests.

I would like to add to this idea. Is there a way to have another bucket that would separate grants with multiple vs. single follow ups? If a grant has multiple follow ups and we cannot mark it closed, I have to open FIMS each time I go into the completed bucket to see if that follow up has been processed in FIMS. It gets time consuming when that mid-follow up has to sit in the completed bucket for six months, a year, or longer.

Hi Chris-Ann,
Thanks for taking time to make this suggestion. Because there can be multiple follow-ups for a given request, it's not as simple as one would think to display the ones marked "Complete."
Some of the changes we are currently working on to improve the report field functionality should help position us to better address some of the feature requests we have for follow-ups:
ability to batch assign themability to review themprovide a better applicant experience around themI'm not sure what we'll be trying to work on first, but they will be getting some attention in 2015.Thanks again for contributing to the Idea Lab.
