E-mail Merge from Dashboard Areas

As an Administrator I do most of my work in the Dashboard so I want to go into the dashboard areas (submitted, draft, open, closed...etc.), choose the applicant(s) I wish to email and e-mail them. Ideally the applicant and request/grant information would be merged into an e-mail template and the workflow would look like the steps below.

1) Click on an area in the Dashboard (submitted, draft, open, closed...etc.)

2) Check the boxes next to the applicant(s) I wish to e-mail

3) Scroll to the bottom and choose the Send Email button

 a) This triggers a pop up window with my e-mail templates to choose from

4) I choose the template and all the contact and request/grant information is populated in the template where I have placed the merge fields

 a) The ability to preview the e-mail before sending would be nice too

5) I can modify the e-mail if I so choose and then click Send.

This functionality would be great if it was on the Search Requests and Decisions pages too.

    Please, the fact this functionality is still not included after 3 years makes the system feel antiquated.

    YES!!! Even simple mail merge such as Dear (First name, Last name).....would be great, but the more options the better!

    I would find this helpful too. In the payment tracking as I could generate payment letters from there based on payment due date.

    Thank you all for weighing in thus far. I think it probably makes sense from any screen where we list drafts, requests or grants.

    For me this would be particularly good in the draft folder. I try to send a reminder to those applicants that have an application in draft to be sure to submit it by the deadline.
