Fiscal Sponsorships/Sponsored Orgs
Currently, the ? icon for the "sponsored org" field indicates this is the vendor the check will be made out to. We're having trouble making that work when giving to a group with a fiscal sponsor, though this is the field we've been directed to use for those situations. The check needs to be made out to the fiscal sponsor, since that's the legal entity, but it makes no sense to put the sponsor in the "Sponsored Org" field, since it's the opposite of that. We're worried staff will never understand what the information in that field means, since it's contrary to some of the situations it's most likely to be used for. If that field isn't intended to be used for groups with a fiscal sponsorship, it'd be great if the terminology of the field could be changed so it's more clear. Also, since it doesn't seem to be intended to be used for groups with a fiscal sponsorship, it'd be great if there was a setup for those groups to receive funds.

Agree that this is confusing by using the opposite terminology that is used by our field.

In the REAL world, the fiscal sponsor is the sponsorING org - not the sponsored.
The sponsorED really needs to be the one that is NOT 501(c)3 and therefore needs to be sponsored by an org that IS. This does not need to be so confusing. Does it? Are there proposed solutions out there? Is there a change coming? This has been like this for more than 2 years and is causing us more and more confusion and work the longer it goes on like this. What is the whole up exactly? -

This is a field that needs to be clear for all, especially the grant entry position. Being newer, this is a confusing field. The way we use the field now, is not correct, but do it so our reports are correct. Perhaps renaming "sponsored org" payee would be more helpful. Thank you

This is also disrupting business at our foundation. We would like to see the CSuite grant fields change to better align with how we are paying grants. It is confusing for staff and does not mirror the setup for Parent/Child relationships on the profile level.
Suggesting "sponsored org" gets replaced with Payee or something similar.

This setup is very confusing (sponsored org). Our grants with this situation were migrated so the actual sponsored org is the grantee and the sponsoring org is the "sponsored org" - even though the sponsored org ? says it should be the sponsored entity. I see why this was migrated in this way, but we decided to change the method going forward and use the field as it is described (grantee is the registered nonprofit, and sponsored org is the organization being sponsored.
However, in most of these cases, we want to mail the grant check and letter to the sponsored org, while paying the check to the registered nonprofit. There is not a way to set the grant up to do that, and we currently have to make notes in the record and then change it manually at the letter/envelope stage.
I thought I had a semi-solution, in which we could create a grant letter template that would use the mailing address for the sponsored org. BUT that is not possible because the sponsored org address fields are not available for the grant letters.
Could those fields be added to the grant letter fields? Or better yet, can we have an option just like the "Pay Sponsored Org" on the grant record for "Mail to Sponsored Org"?
