Change Fund Group at a Point in Time
For audit purposes, it would be helpful to be able to change a fund group type at a point in time instead of changing all of history. We have memorial funds that come in as "Unrestricted" but turn into restricted scholarship funds (or others). When we change the fund group it changes the data for all of time which makes our ending balances for PY not match beginning balances in terms of audit categories.
Right now we are closing the memorial funds completely and opening a new scholarship fund but this has us lose the donor/donation history for the fund.

This is highly critical issue. To date, in FIMS and now CSuite, our CF has closed out fund, transferred to new fund and add notes to state new fund is from a fund conversion and also use a custom field to note the new fund is sourced from a fund conversion. Not only do we lose clear audit trail of the fund's donation/grant history. More importantly, the distribution calculation on this new fund is not accurate since the system doesn't have 20 quarters of fund balances. They live back in the retired fund.

This is definitely needed. If you change any fund and then run a report for an earlier period, you have to manually edit the report info, which is not good for data integrity or consistency of presentation. Relying on a person to remember that a certain number of funds changed groups or subgroups after a certain period and then change what is generated from the system is not a reliable way to create reports, especially if you've had turnover.

We continue to have issues with this. Any chance this will get another look? Group and subgroup would be great.

Our auditors asked us to come up with an internal process when we change groups. What is the status of this request? It would be very helpful to have a system solution for this.

Yes please - I just lost a day of my life trying to figure out all these little changes so I could explain them to our auditors. Sometimes a donor will make a donation to establish a fund but we haven't worked out the details of what kind of fund etc. and changes that aren't date specific are harder to find and explain.

This not only affects the history of the fund but also affects the administrative fees and the spending policy.

This would be super helpful. We were told to make a new fund, but we agree with Catherine that when you lose the history you don't want to make a new fund... so for us.... it's just changing the previous audited data from prior years when you pull reports which should not happen. If there could be a date when the fund was changed to a different type that might fix the issue.
