  1. Our development team would love to have a way within the system to track future funds that are coming once we receive estate gifts. (i.e., we already have a fund agreement, but there are no assets that have been transferred). To me, this sounded like asking for the fund equivalent of pledge vs. promise within the system.

They suggested adding a designation in the system as part of the "open" or "closed" options (maybe "future" or "inactive") so the information could already be entered and tracked within the system. This would streamline info instead of using spreadsheets or other tracking…

This sounds like a great question for Compass! I have seen a lot of clients use Opportunities for this. You can create an opportunity for the profile and tie a fund beneficiary to the Opportunity. The Fund is created and added to a "legacy" fund group that can be moved once the estate gift is received.

The Opportunitiy is created (titled Bequest Expectancy - or similar) with the following stages:

    1. Open
    2. Bequest Documented
    3. Realization Notification
    4. In Process
    5. Closed

  2. an idea for the future for donor advised that grant multiple grant types - be able to check multiple areas for Default Fund Grant Types.

  4. Master funds are a subfund of multiple funds (for us 2 a designated and agency portion). It would be very beneficial if any of the attachments or notes that get put on the designated or agency portion get attached to the masterfund automatically OR vice versa where if we attach something on the master fund it goes to the subfunds. If we could have the ability to link a fund like you can for notes but be able to link 1 or multiple funds to one attachment that would be perfect.

Which also- having the ability to link notes to…

  5. For audit purposes, it would be helpful to be able to change a fund group type at a point in time instead of changing all of history. We have memorial funds that come in as "Unrestricted" but turn into restricted scholarship funds (or others). When we change the fund group it changes the data for all of time which makes our ending balances for PY not match beginning balances in terms of audit categories.

Right now we are closing the memorial funds completely and opening a new scholarship fund but this has us lose the donor/donation history for the fund.
