"Flag" an Organization
Periodically we have organizations we need to flag because of various reasons: Not to Apply Again, Budget Questions, or Other...it really all depends on multiple things. But, we need to dig around in the Organization Comments or Request Comments to find specific notes.
With different staff members taking calls from applicants, we are not getting cohesive notes at times, or someone missed something and spoke too soon.
An example is letting an applicant know they can reapply in the next round, when another staff member had indicated that their last grant was, literally, to be their last grant.
If there were a means to highlight or "flag" an organization, then as soon as we look up the organization we would see that there was a question on something, so that we should dig deeper.
Not sure if others would find this helpful, or if it's already been suggested?
Hi All,
Our October 2024 Release included the additional new functionality "Pinned Commented." Based on conversations with many of you who have engaged on this thread, we felt that the functionality of a pinned comment would give you the most flexibility in communicating the need to Flag an Organization or User within the software.
I encourage you to review the support documentation to learn.
If for any reason you feel this feature does not solve the need you have for the software, please create a new idea or follow up with me directly at sammie.holzwarth@foundant.com.
As always, we will continue to enhance this functionality based on your feedback.
Best,
Sammie

I really like the idea of being able to Red Flag an organization. Here is my thought:
It would be great if Administrators had the ability to RED FLAG and organization. For instance, we currently have an organization that we are having a hard time getting a final report from and we have questions as to how the grant dollars were actually used. I can add notes to the Organization Summary page, but am not sure that I will remember to always read notes for an organization before accepting and reviewing a future grant app from them. I would love to be able to turn on a red flag (literally) that would indicate to me to look at the comments for them before engaging with them again. It would be ideal if it appeared on both the Organization Summary and Request Summary pages. -

I like this possibility as an alternative to deleting an organization.

I would think the flag could be a single red exclamation point, to save the most space. I'd actually be more likely to want to flag an installment than an organization. I type conditional payment comments in the decision comments and the request comments, but that's not a guarantee that other staff reviewing a follow-up/"payment request" will see my note. Hey... what about adding comments to an installment?

I was looking around to see if other similar requests had come up on this topic, and the nearest is the Archiving Organizations topic.
We still would love a feature that can help us identify organizations that might be needing special attention. One of the purposes of "flagging" is we may tell an organization to take a break from funding, but would be allowed to apply again after several years. The archiving could work I suppose, but I have concerns on moving an organization into such a status.
Another issue that comes up is relating to our budget restrictions, and as we do renewal funding we are often finding organizations become close to reaching these restrictions, and would like to note that somewhere very clearly. The idea of a "flag" for this seems ideal. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hfadn1yq1sqai2k/Flagged%20Organization%20Images.doc -

We've actually talked about how it would be nice to flag a process in some way. We operate with two grant cycles per year, however, we encourage interim grants for urgent, emergency purposes. We created a separate LOI for this process. However, unless the grantee contacts us or our program folks (both of them!) check the queue and sort/look for interims on a daily basis, these can be overlooked. They thought it would be nice if the interims jumped out at them in some way, i.e., a different color background or text?

I just knew you would ask these questions :)
I am curious if others would find this useful, and how they might want it set up.
For me, even as a start, if we had the flag be something you might see next to the organization name when you do a search, that would be great. That is what had come to mind when I thought of this feature. Or, if suitable, a flag could appear anywhere you see the organization name - even on the Organization View.
In terns of how many types of flags, I was thinking like Microsoft Outlook, there are different color categories and you can set a color for a category, even change the name to set a custom category. That could be asking too much within this system, and I would be fine with just a single flag, that you could click on or off as needed. It would really only be used by an Administrator, at least for our purposes.
I can think more about how I might envision the usage, and get back to you, but this is my thinking for right now. Would love to hear if anyone else might find this useful!

Hi Dana,
I think some aspect of what you're suggesting probably makes sense. I certainly agree that in a number of cases, people are having to do too many extra clicks to find information, and having some kind of "flagging" would help.
Couple immediate challenges that come to mind are how many "types" of flags should there be, where should they be displayed, how long should they be displayed, which roles should see them, etc.
It'd be good if other folks could add their perspectives. I'm guessing that something like this would be part of some general user interfaces we hope to make later in 2014. The more input we have around things like this that would improve efficiency and the overall user experience, the better that release will be.
Thanks,
