"Flag" an Organization
Periodically we have organizations we need to flag because of various reasons: Not to Apply Again, Budget Questions, or Other...it really all depends on multiple things. But, we need to dig around in the Organization Comments or Request Comments to find specific notes.
With different staff members taking calls from applicants, we are not getting cohesive notes at times, or someone missed something and spoke too soon.
An example is letting an applicant know they can reapply in the next round, when another staff member had indicated that their last grant was, literally, to be their last grant.
If there were a means to highlight or "flag" an organization, then as soon as we look up the organization we would see that there was a question on something, so that we should dig deeper.
Not sure if others would find this helpful, or if it's already been suggested?
Hi All,
Our October 2024 Release included the additional new functionality "Pinned Commented." Based on conversations with many of you who have engaged on this thread, we felt that the functionality of a pinned comment would give you the most flexibility in communicating the need to Flag an Organization or User within the software.
I encourage you to review the support documentation to learn.
If for any reason you feel this feature does not solve the need you have for the software, please create a new idea or follow up with me directly at sammie.holzwarth@foundant.com.
As always, we will continue to enhance this functionality based on your feedback.
Best,
Sammie

Yes, Kraig, I agree with your comment that it would be great to be able to flag a particular grant request as well as overall organization. One example - we have "layers" of approval needed for many of our grants. It would be great to flag "approved by grants committee, pending review by finance committee", or "pending approval by full board," or both. Or, for example, "payment to be held until new Exec Dir has been hired" (if funding the ED's position).

I just came across a few more instances where this functionality might be helpful but at the request level. There are instances where grants are at the award status but might need to be paused due to a change in circumstances. It would be good to know we're waiting on something before moving forward otherwise it just looks like a grant that was supposed to be sent but never was.

People still want this feature. Our work around is okay but not that helpful. Would love to have this feature implemented. Sad to hear it is just in C-Suite. Do we need to get C-Suite to make our system work better for us? :(
Would love an update. Feedback Needed... Here is my feedback:
Organization Summary, Viewing Any Form Submitted, Viewing Requests - basically, anytime we are reviewing something to do with the organization. I figured one would go into the Organization Summary to set the flag.
I would like it to be viewable in any area that a report or similar pulls information from the Organization Summary, so any and all options. I wouldn't care either way if Evaluators see it. That is a possibility, but it is mostly for Admins and Staff...but could be possible for all users.
Thank you for consideration! :) -

This would be helpful for us as there are a handful of orgs we have identified as not eligible.

Agreed. We currently do this in C-suite with Alert notes. If there was a way to sync this, or even just replicate it in GLM, that would help. We could see right away if an application is from an organization that we've flagged as ineligible for various reasons, etc.

Would love it if this could be added! Voted for it in March, 2019 but will vote for it again today :)

Anonymous commented last in 2019 with a handy way of doing this sort of flagging, which is great. We also added a field to the Organization details for something that we had wanted to flag, which is helpful.
I am still wondering though if there was another look at this for something (simple visual cue) at a glance. Is this still "under consideration" or just waiting for more votes? Maybe I will wrangle up a few more votes...

We flag for several things in our system by editing the Organization Name field, preceding an organization's name with $$ (outcomes issues); NFF (No Future Funding), LO (contact made inactive, forcing them to call before applying again . . . etc. It's working so far for us.

Hi Lauren. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but the new ability to add custom fields to the Org page has helped us with this. We now have a "Flag" field. It doesn't create a pop-up box or show a special symbol, but it's much more noticeable than a comment. You can ask Support to make it Administrator only so your applicants can't see it if you wish.

I agree. This would be a great feature to have within Foundant.

We have two funding cycles per year. And, our eligibility policy is that organizations must wait at least three cycles to apply for funding. We also have different grant processes depending on the dollar amount requested.
It would be great to be able to flag organizations that are not eligible for funding--whether because they have an open grant with us, or they just received funding in the previous cycle.
As our giving increases it is becoming more difficult to keep track of this information. Having this feature available in Foundant would be super helpful!

I like that concept too and if we could apply similar process to applicants eligibility that would be good.

We had MircoEdge GIFTS and loved this feature as well.

This would be such a great feature! A flag or exclamation point that shows up in a search and/or a pop-up box that opens when the org summary page is viewed would be so helpful!

I just submitted pretty much the same idea. We relied on this feature in our former system and really miss it. I see that you submitted this several years ago so I'm not hopeful it will be implemented. Darn. We would really use it.

We really miss a feature that we had in Blackbaud Grantmaking (formerly MicroEdge Gifts) that allowed you to put an alert on an organization. We used this often to flag an organization that isn't eligible to come back before a certain date -- outside of our normal wait period. In Gifts, it would show a red circle with an explanation point and when you hovered over it, you would see the message. Other than posting something in "comments" in Foundant, which can be overlooked, there doesn't appear to be a way to flag something. I have a picture of what this looks like but don't see a way to send an attachment here.

It would be amazing to be able to flag a single user, too. Sometimes, users move around from organization to organization-- and it is the user that a particular "flag" should be attached to.

I would love to see if there is a way we could "flag" or color code an organization that we might need to look further into before we send them an application.

(Corrected) Here's another situation where a flag system could be helpful: we have grantees who apply for multiple programs, and they submit financials and insurance in reports for these various programs. It gets tiring for the grantees having to upload financials and insurance to every single report, so we allow them to say it's "on file"... but sometimes they don't know, and say it's "on file" even when we don't have it. It requires a lot of extra checking on our part, and saving down documents from various reports, etc. It could help to be able to check off that the organization had submitted the financials and insurance for the year. Since they all have different fiscal or insurance periods, I envision that this would be a flag based on a date entered in by us - when the date has passed, the flag would appear, meaning that an update is needed. Just dreaming 'out loud' here...

A flag system would be incredibly helpful. Color-coded flags would be great -- but I'd settle for just a single one-color/red flag option. The flag would appear in the organization info section. Our foundation would use it to let admins/evaluators know there is important info in the org comments section that they should read. As it stands now, one has no way of knowing whether there's critical details in the comments and you have to open the comments every time you access a record. GIFTS has this flag feature, if you want to see what it might be implemented.
