4/30/2024: Reports: Added a new report, Undelivered Emails. This report is located in Reports, Create Reports, and then in the left hand column next to Profile Email History. This report is a report of all Bounced or Dropped emails in the system. This will allow users to easily identify the emails status and the response. This report contains the following columns: date sent, name, email history id, email, subject, status, and response.

We recently received a call from a donor who had not yet received an acknowledgement for their year-end gift. When looking into this, our staff was stumped, as the receipt for the donation was time-stamped shortly after the gift was received, indicating that the receipt had been emailed to the donor. After some thought, staff backed their way out of the gift record, out of the “Donor” tab, and clicked on the “Email History” link on the left-hand side of the profile – a link we have never used. When doing so, they saw the “Bounce” status for the email acknowledgement – and were alarmed. Why had we not been notified that the email gift acknowledgement had bounced back? And how many other donors had not received their gift acknowledgements? It turns out there were 17 times in 2023 alone when we sent an email acknowledgement to a donor that bounced back – and we were not aware. This appears to be a significant oversight in the software; if an email is sent and bounces back, we should be notified. Staff has now created a custom report scheduled to run on the first of each month, emailing a list of any bounced back emails to her so that she can follow up, but there should be a way to program the software so that we get "real time" notification of bounce back emails.
