Split donation
A split donation with more than one donation destination is not the same thing as using a profile payment. Donors make gifts, not payments; that's a different process, which requires an invoice, and multiple transactions. We should be able to honor a donor's request to split their gift however they need and keep the records clean.
This idea is not "implemented."
Just today, I had the ability to get as far as a screen that showed the donation, how much of it I applied to one fund, and then I had the option of entering a second fund for the balance - but it would not populate with the donation destination. See screenshot. It's as if someone started working on this but didn't finish this so it's out there but doesn't work.
Should be simple. Enter a donation, and add the option to add more than one donation destination.

Donations: Added the ability to create a multifund donation when creating a donation from the donations menu. Clients can create a donation and select “make multifund” from the left hand menu. This will allow clients to enter more that one fund receiving a portion of this donation. Multifund donations can only be processed for checks, other payment, or stock payment types. Once the process button is selected, clients will see the profile payment had been created for them. They can then post the donation from payments or use the bulk posting process within donations. Also added a quick post option next to the individual donations within payments. With this enhancement, the fund has moved up in the donation creating screen just below amount.

A donation that is split between multiple funds should not force you to the profile payment screen. A gift simply going to more than one destination is not the same as a profile payment that requires invoicing, multiple transactions, etc.

We just had a multi-destination public securities donation and the payment first process doesn't allow for public securities as the payment type. I had to split it manually by dividing the number of shares and multiplying by the initial proceeds before selling the shares. Now I'm tweaking our tax receipt to get all three on one as a multi-fund stock gift since that's what it was...not three as we had to post it, so this would be huge. Upvoted.

just went through the process of creating 5 entries for one donor check - 1 to create the payment, and 1 for each destination fund specified by the donor. should be easier. how about making a multifund option as with A/P vouchers?

Yes, please!! We frequently encounter split gifts and I agree, the payment method seems totally out of place for what should be a simple process.

Would also like to have ability to have part of the donation spendable and the remainder endowed. Or vice versa. Instead of having to create 2 donations for the same gift to accomplish this.

I 100% agree, this needs to be a donation process! I enter separately because I don't like using the "payments" for gifts.

This is a must have! We are using profile payments because it is our only option but we receive gifts on a weekly basis that are applied to multiple funds (25+ funds for one check)

very surprised this still isn't implemented! it's so easy to do on a voucher. can the same logic not be put onto donations? especially with stock donations, it is very necessary.

I believe this is the same problem I had this week. Support said it was due to a donor being linked to the fund. I unlinked the donor (scrolled down to the bottom of the fund), added the other fund which fixed the donation, then relinked the donor.

We've found the same issue and have landed on the same page where it seems to be offering the option of adding a second fund, but will not populate any name other than the original destination.
Much like we can create multi-fund grants that lead to the same record, we should be able to have multi-fund donations that lead to the same record without introducing payments. Please fix!

Quickbooks makes it very easy to enter one donation check into multiple funds all in one transaction. I think CSuite needs a tab on the left menu while youre entering a donation for an additional donation within the first donation. For ex: Im writing a check for $500 and i want $100 into these 5 funds. Why need to make 5 complete start to finish enteries when you could come up with something to make that process much quicker

This needs to be a DONATION process. The screen is already there - it just won't work! There is an option in the menu that lights up red, "+ Add Fund" when you don't apply the full amount of a gift - but it's useless. Finish the job and you're golden.

Better yet - please make this a Donation process rather than Payments process. We are just trying to split donations into multiple funds. That way, we can even use the Donation Upload template.

Split payments to multiple funds in one screen
We will have donors give to 20+ funds in one payment. It would be great to be able to split the payments in one screen with drop downs for each fund and amount applied. Currently, there are too many steps in the split payment process with the potential of errors.
